Can you limit the upload speed?

I was wondering if you can limit the upload speed of the new players joining the server. When a new player is joining the server, this causes already connected players to have high pings.
That means, that it should be (if not already is) possible to have different upload speeds for downloading resources and online players.
So, can this be done?

You might be able to limit the upload speed (on your connection) from your host. I do not think this is possible with ZapHosting (if you use their services).

If you use a VPS you may be able to limit your upload speed in your settings if you’re using a Windows OS and are controlling it via Remote Desktop.

If it’s local hosted you can do this too!

Of course, this is a very crude method and I’m sure other people have better ways of doing so. Perhaps consider a different alternative, such as using OneSync Infinity to prevent users from downloading everything (at once)?

As said, this is a crude and ineffective method. I am sure others have a smarter way of doing this.

Thanks, Duncan

If you limit the upload speed in network-level, you will also limit the connection speed between the players and also the streaming speed. I was thinking if there was another way. For example if I could setup a limit from inside the FXServer somehow. --A setting maybe–.
Or even if I could give my new players to predownload the files from another server, that would be great! I just came up with this! Is it possible to give the resources to my players via filesharing?

just use a caching proxy, no need to punish your players with lowered download speeds

Caching proxy? Is that a thing?
Are there any guides on that? Thank you for the suggestion!

Would be nice if you at least tried searching before asking me

I am thinking that my server started having severe lags because of resource uploading for the last one or two weeks. Before that, this never happened. Is there a possibility the problem is from fivem itself? How other servers are handling this?
I cant remember exactly when I updated the artifacts.

Hello. Were you able to solve it from FXServer without having to go through a proxy like Nginx? I have the same problem and I would like to be able to solve it from FXServer or if there is any resource.
