What is the issue you’re having?
My built-from-source FiveM client loads, seems to show all components fine, but won’t connect to any server, it always gives me a message that “No authentication ticket was specified.”
I have both a Vanilla server and a built-from-source server. All in LAN, as I only have interest in playing in LAN with my kids. No need to connect to external servers.
The standard FiveM client downloaded from web connects correctly onto both servers. However the built-from-source FiveM client won’t.

What are you trying to do?
Understand better FiveM functioning and build process so I can create a modified version for our local usage.

What have you tried already to fix the issue?
I have tried multiple combinations of built-from-source servers, older versions, newer versions, running the client in normal, beta and canary mode. To no avail.
Also tried combinations of building as debug/release, both on the server and on the client side. Same outcome.

What did you do to get this issue?
Just tried to connect to the server. The message appears right away when I press connect to ser on LAN.

What server did you get this issue on? Be specific and name some, ‘all of them’ by itself isn’t useful!
Tried on my local servers, standard vanilla and built-from-source, no success.
Tried on a single online server, can’t remember which one, but as it also gave me the same message I didn’t bother trying on another.


Additional comments

I have a feeling that I might be just missing some smail detail, either on the build process or the configuration/installation. However I couldn’t find many other on the web building from source, so there’s very little information on issues.
I have also tried for help the discord but I didn’t even get a message reply there.
Followed the build process from GitHub (building.md) as close as possible, and everything seemed to succeed.
Had to tun cmd.exe as Administrator, so GIT could create the necessary symlinks, also had to run the ‘fxd gen -game five’ a few times to clear out dependencies. But after that both client and server built with zero errors.
Looking forward to some guidance on how to implement it correctly.

This is intentional, if you want to connect to a server with a custom built client you need to either use a custom built server or use the convar set sv_lan 1

It wouldn’t make sense for custom builds to be able to join servers as then they have an easy way to get around the anti cheat.
