[BUG] Metadata files for vehicles not working except for handling file

Client Version: Set to latest release channel
Server Artifacts: 15414
Game Build: 3407

Description:
I attempted to adjust vanilla vehicle metadata files, specifically the eurosx32 and found that only the handling.meta works correctly. I tried to adjust traffic variety and vehicle audio (with another vanilla vehicles audio) inside a streamed vehicles.meta file which resulted in no changes. I also attempted to adjust the carcols.meta and removed some mods from the vehicle which also didn’t work. The metadata files do load as I can see them in the f8 console but it seems they aren’t being used.

Possible this is another issue? I use:

Which successfully overwrite/adjusts vanilla vehicle files.

it adjusts handling, carcols, and carvariations.

I have personally observed issues with vehicles.meta not overwriting, I tried to change the trailers available to a base game truck and it didn’t work. Maybe this is specific to the vehicles.meta?

I think it varies based on the vehicle. The carcols do seem to work with some vehicles but not all, the base game (non-dlc) vehicles can have their vehicles.meta adjusted as long as you replace it in the gta5.meta. I think the mounter prevents some of them overwriting if it already exists.

You can overwrite handling.meta and carvariations.meta. You’re able to get around the inability to overwrite carcols.meta by defining new lights, siren, and/or modkit IDs in the carvariations.meta (which is what nocarguns does). Overwriting base game vehicles.metas is possible by editing the gta5.meta (but I would not recommend that…you can break stuff really fast)

I’ve had no issues with the gta5.meta for base game vehicles, as long as you edit it correctly you shouldn’t have any problems. Only downside is it only solves the problem for one metadata file for non-dlc vehicles.
