Base events or pulling data from your own resource? Resource consumption or single point of failure?

Sorry for the nonsensical title. I wanted to ask the people who are specifically running servers about their opinion on base events vs gathering the information from their own script.

I know there are pro’s and cons. For example having a single point of failure on base-events can cause you to spend more time troubleshooting when things go wrong and can chain together issues across resources,

While having independent data collection (per resource) is guaranteed to cost more…well…resources…Not sure what the right play is, but I’d love to hear from server developers and teams who roll their own production resources / test resources for their friends / clients…

Thanks as always for the advice in advance!

Developer POV : You can never trust the code you need is somewhere you didn’t put it, so if you want fail-safe, you just write it included. If you don’t mind the risk then you rely on third-party functionality that a majority would typically implement.

Lovely - It makes total sense! I don’t wanna stop at one person’s experience if possible, so does anyone else have an additional experience they can add to the topic? All are welcome!

Hilariously, actually just now, I am working through a resource that uses baseevents, but the server does not and then I got the notification for the solution or heart. The universe a simulation swear.
