An honest review of TARP
TARP is the first ever RP server I have ever been a part of and I have met some amazing people through it that I now consider my best friends. As someone who hasn’t been a part of a GTA RP server before, here is some honest feedback.
PROS:
It is very beginner friendly; the two week probationary period and mandatory mentor program you must participate in really helped me learn how to RP properly and how the city works. When I came to the city, it was very easy for me to make friends as everyone was super nice to me and willing to help me out.
The “why” behind the server is pretty cool; it is a Law-Enforcement heavy server that aims to humanize the badge and “bridge the gap” between LEO and civilians. On top of that the discord community feels like a family and is very inclusive. They also have philanthropic events where they will have a fundraiser to benefit less fortunate kids, especially around the holidays. Officer Messer (founder and owner of server) is a super solid guy who has a really good heart and he makes really solid content.
The staff are all volunteers and yet they treat it like a full time job; they are very responsive when technical difficulties happen and are very diligent in fixing any issue that comes up.
The overall culture of the server is solid in regards to RP; there is a unanimous understanding that it is an RP server so when you fly into the city, you can expect that and nothing less.
CONS:
No server is perfect. TARP is doing everything they can from keeping punks (ppl that just want to RDM and VDM with little to no RP) out of the city, but they still sneak in from time to time.
There also seems to be an unspoken double standard within the community; where if you are a LEO character, streamer, or admin, you can do what you want, but anyone else not in those roles is subject to disciplinary action. There have been countless times where some admins that are characters in the city break their own rules (outside of the times where they’re actually doing admin stuff in-city) or some of the cops in the city have acted above the very law they enforce.
All in all, TARP is a great server; the cons sound pretty brutal but this is just honest feedback. The admins are working hard every day to make the experience more realistic and enjoyable. I still enjoy every time I get to fly in and consider it a privilege to participate in such a server. If you’re new to GTA RP; this is a great starting point!
