I was going to look something up in the CFX Discord and it seems everything was deleted? Is there a back up of any of this?

It’s likely just hidden temporarily. This happens from time-to-time.

What’s the reasoning behind that? Doesn’t seem any announcements were made regarding it, feels a bit strange that everything would just be locked for 2 days without warning, especially something like the support and general chat.

Couldn’t tell you, it just happen sometimes.

The good old unexplained times where years of conversations were deleted was kind of sad, although I believe a mod in the discord confirmed they’re just hidden for a bit in this instance, atleast.

Yeah, the transparency on this stuff is a bit concerning. I’ve never understood how people just kind of throw their hands up when this stuff happens.

How can years of communication/messages be deleted with not more than 1 or 2 threads? It’s really a bizarre situation.

Oh well, it is what it is, kind of sucks that the deleted channels incident happened, at least we know it’s not that again. Odd thing is the forums seem more reliable in these cases yet it’s utilized less, which also sucks.

Never really got why the Discord seems to be used as a source of truth instead of just being a quick and dirty brainstorming place. Discord is not meant to be for documentation.

People should start throwing all their research, snippets and findings on github or this forum instead. Loads of content in e.g. redm-research that afaik resides nowhere else, which is a bummer.

Well, Discord API says they got deleted. Don’t take my word for granted, but it seems like we got the same situation again.

I’ve had this discussion with a couple people before, the whole discord development trend is extremely dangerous and prone to mass deletes with no back up. At least things are archived here by internet archive and other web archiving initiatives.

Total bizarre, if the channels are deleted (I wasn’t around for the first deletion everyone talks about so don’t know the specifics) what can we do here?

Cfx/Rockstar should have a explanation for us, this pretty wild.

How are decisions getting made like that with no oversight/transparency?

Again? Dang it.

Gotta start archiving #fivem-scripting from now on, atleast if it returns lol.

Yep… just checked now, it is indeed gone.

Four days with no response or info on this. What a totally bizarre way to handle this.

I wonder if this was done by Rockstar or autonomously by CFX. Totally unprofessional and just generally lame/stupid.

I’ve always stayed unbiased on the team, but I can presume from what I’ve heard in the past that something is going to shits down there. Hopefully they can get their hands together and think about a way of somehow preventing this (assuming it wasn’t intentional) lol.

I mean we have realistic standard #1 (relative) and realistic standard #2 (also relative)

This one wouldn’t really hit as hard, all the questions I would be finding on support channels (mainly #fivem-scripting) were things that people could’ve just looked at the forums or some issue regarding a Framework :man_shrugging:.

It was a shame losing the old #fivem-research which had information on a bunch of unnamed natives and just general research on GTAV (which also makes me question why that information wasn’t PR’ed to the docs atleast ). Most useful thing was pressing Ctrl + F and looking for your issue as some developer back in 2019 had experienced the exact same thing :stuck_out_tongue:.

I really also wished the forums were utilized more too, it seems it has died out in the past couple. I mean at least the GitHub repo is active again .

The discord being wiped is one thing, I’ve only heard commentary about how the first major wipe happened due to potentially deleting questionable words/statements by people in/close to the cfx team, so I have nothing else to go off of.

The fact that this happens and seemingly none of the people close to cfx or in the team say anything or just tip toe around nta/dbub talking about mass deletion is weird. It feels like looking at a bunch of yes-men hoping for praise from a cult leader. Totally surreal.

Aside from that, I can’t say I expect much from CFX at this point, but you’d think Rockstar and whoever is officially part of Rockstar on the cfx team would take some sort of decisive public action.

This just looks worse for rockstar the longer it goes on.

Damn, the bub doesn’t seem to be in the guild anymore.

I would like to see what Rockstar’s partnership also leads to though. I guess all we can do it wait and see given the questionable communication tactics that some have alleged lol.

I also just realized days after the incident the sudden appearance of #service-update casually taking in suggestions haha. Hopefully someone with enough power to make channels wakes up soon.

I don’t personally think errors within Cfx.re would be damaging to Rockstar’s Reputation at all, I mean heck, their whole game is a culture fuck that would’ve gotten cancelled if it weren’t 2013 lol.

On the topic of deletions: the RedM category is still up, can someone grab a dump of redm-research and maybe redm-scripting before it vanishes too? Especially the research channel has info and dumps I havenā€˜t seen anywhere else yet (like legit the place to go to for certain info that doesnā€˜t exist anywhere else).

Would be a bummer if things get nuked.

Also on the topic of the R* acquisition improving things: Iā€˜m frankly team ā€žitā€˜ll get worseā€œ. My bet is that the Cfx team is slowly being pulled in to improve official R* products instead of resources flowing into improving FiveM and RedM. Huge playerbase that R* probably wants to monetize and bolster their own game online variants with.

Yeah he left off the dbub account but he’s still in there on his NTA account, same person just seems to be ā€œenjoyingā€ the chaos he made.

I think the cfx team isn’t needed or wanted in other products, they’re likely just trying to get rid of dead weight on the team as it goes forward.
