Since the new UI update, the VRAM usage has been huge. PC’s that only have 2GB of VRAM now use about 3.5GB with the extended budget texture at medium. This is also causing texture problems. Badly, to the point where buildings are barely seen. Lowering it down to not burn down you GPU will not help either, as you’d have to lower your extended budget texture, meaning it will make the textures even worse.
This is not a bug, the VRAM meter in the game settings did not correctly count the impact for ‘extended texture budget’ before (fix(game/five): show accurate VRAM impact for 'extended budget' · citizenfx/fivem@079e62e · GitHub), this has been changed so that it does show the correct impact of the configured setting.
Similarly, to prevent issues where the game will freeze when moving around the map as a result of running out of VRAM, the game now only loads assets that fit in video memory (i.e. setting extended memory budget too high will cause issues). This means that servers which forcibly load oversized content (see strmem display) will no longer work on low-end systems, which however is an issue beyond our control: these already did not work correctly in the first place.
(if there is any other issue in this regard, however, we will look into it in the near future, however finding a GPU with only 2 GB VRAM is likely to be a difficult exercise in 2022, as is finding a server that’s affected by this)
