Tebex Nonsense Policies & Restrictions

When it comes to Tebex, apparently now they’re pushing rules that customers can’t contact you to claim anything via Discord, or anywhere outside of the Tebex platform. I even had one interaction with an agent that stated I can’t offer support via Discord.

I understand the limitations regarding their “import services” rules in regards to requiring people provide you files to upload to your server I guess, though not really as if it doesn’t violate DMCA or copyright, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Been going back and forth with Tebex over this for a while now and getting nowhere. Starting to really question whether I should return to FiveM and RedM development and server ownership, especially given the fees I’ll be paying just to deal with all this added frustration.

How are other server owners navigating all these new rules and restrictions? or is this essentially their way of removing the ability to monetize anything community wise?

Keep interactions with Tebex to a minimum. Just do exactly what they ask you to do when they ask you to. Offer the minimum information required to end conversations with them. Don’t offer any insight or information beyond what is needed to complete transactions with Tebex.

Everyone at Tebex has at best 5-10 brain cells that they pass around in a jar and huff out of.

If you want to work in FiveM, you just have to suck it up. Tebex basically follows no international laws unless they get in legal trouble, and none of us are big enough to hold them accountable financially. There is no consistency with enforcement or rules, you are at the whim of whoever is having a bad day at the office the day they decide to communicate with you.

If you are JUST getting into FiveM/RedM and are platform agnostic/don’t have more interest in GTA 5 over other games/platforms, I’d honestly recommend another platform like Roblox or Fortnite.

You’re in for a lot worse, trust me; it only gets worse/more complicated from here.

Yeah, it’s been about two years since I’ve really been active with development and server ownership. I still miss the old days pre 2020/2021 as things were amazing.

As far as Tebex, I can’t even get this latest store approved, as they’re requesting server deliverables, which for what I’m offering I simply can’t provide, and in the one case, gave me a hassle because I grant those who buy from the store a “customer” role on Discord as part of the deliverables.

When it comes to FiveM, it still gives me a lot of nostalgia from when I invented the combat niche of servers back in 2018 and 2019. I wanted to come back one last time before the project fully dies as I’m figuring now with R* involved, once GTA6 rolls out, this one is history not long after.

It’s really not worth the stress/hassle unless you really think FiveM is the only place you can be a creative or you’re already stuck in the platform.

I would absolutely not recommend it, if you have nostalgia, keep it that way at least you’ll have good memories to look back on that aren’t tainted by the general experience here.

We’re currently a few weeks into FXAP/escrow being easily cracked and hidden with no solutions in sight.

I legitmiately would not recommend anyone get involved in FiveM development/community unless you’re already have a community/group of friends already into it. It’s really not worth it, it really does only get worse from where you are now.

Definitely got me thinking, that’s for sure. I’m definitely getting a bit too old to be loading on more unnecessary stress, that’s for sure.

I thought the Escrow situation was resolved. That certainly changes things quite a bit for me if that remains an open vulnerability. I actually shut down my former project of 30k+ members because of our content being leaked, stolen, and then used with no real consequences.

I thought the Escrow situation was resolved.

Nope, it’s still ongoing. Creators’ entire stores are being leaked every day. As with everything else on the platform, there is no transparency or insight into the action being taken against malicious actors/websites.

Yeah, I’ve been reconnecting with a lot of old FiveM friends that develop and they’re all pretty much saying the same thing. Some have even started looking at leaving FiveM entirely as sales have started to slide to the point it’s no longer worth developing here when they can be making way more money on other platforms.

I appreciate you ‘grounding’ me on this topic, as it helped me re-evaluate my return. Perhaps my nostalgia was blinding me to some of the real facts about FiveM today under R*. I’m actually finding it might not be as worthwhile to return to FiveM. Thinking I may take the high road, keep the nostalgia untarnished, and start working on other platforms that don’t involve as many headaches. So many platforms now make monetization easy, simple, built-in, with no server or maintenance overhead.

Opted for closing all of my stores and officially wrapping up my time with FiveM, RedM and Tebex. Plenty of other much more worthwhile places to create content, with a lot less hassle, and a much higher payout potenttial. FiveM may not be dead, but it’s definitely on its way. RIP FiveM 2015 - 2023.
