What did you do to get this issue? Only thing I can think of is running FiveM for the first time while Rockstar Social Club servers were down

I installed FiveM and after install finished, it asked me to log into my social club account to verify my ownership of my copy of GTA V as per normal. However at the time the Rockstar Social Club servers were down so verification was unsuccessful. Later, when the servers were back up and running again, I tried again. I didn’t get another request from FiveM to verify my ownership and went straight to the initial loading screen, saying “it WILL be worth the wait”. However the app just hangs there and GTA never loads up. Even though according to Task Manager the FiveM launcher uses between 4 to 7% of CPU usage, there’s no disk usage or network usage. I left it for around 50 minutes to see if anything would happen, but no, the launcher just hangs on the initial loading screen.

The steps I’ve taken are:
Removed FiveM, and meticulously went through my registry removing any entry that contained “FiveM” in any string or key (and for those wondering, I’ve been building and maintaining PC’s since the advent of Windows 98, I know what I’m doing in the registry). Then I reinstalled FiveM.

My next step was to try to restore my PC from a previous restore point.

I also tried removing 2FA from my Social Club account, trying FiveM again before re-enabling 2FA.

Despite all my efforts, I’ve never been asked to verify my game ownership even when I re-installed FiveM leading me to believe there is an additional registry key that doesn’t contain “FiveM” in it’s text and may be an encrypted string that is confusing FiveM into thinking the ownership check has been done regardless of outcome, but as verification was unsuccessful it can’t log in.

I use ZoneAlarm firewall instead of the builtin Windows firewall and ensured rules are in place to allow FiveM full internet access, both inbound and outbound traffic.

I would appreciate if someone could look into this for me and let me know what the issue is, how to force FiveM to ask me to login to my Social Club account again or what any potential fix may be.

This is mostly caused by antivirus, please try disabling it or adding fivem as exception

I use Bitdefender Plus and already created an exception for it. Sorry, I forgot to mention that in the original post.

Ok, found out the issue. I use an auto anti-ransomware app which includes protecting of personal folders (like My Documents, My Pictures, etc) which was blocking FiveM. It was an app that doesn’t use popups like a regular AV program and requires little to no user interaction so I barely remember I have it installed. But I’ve got into the FiveM servers now. All’s good.
