So I am writing this to inform everyone of an issue we currently have with FiveM servers. Favoritism. Most servers today, especially Purple RP, their staff is money hungry. They look at money before people, and decide what to do with you depending on the amount of money you have. I got banned 3 months ago for RDM, and have submitted an appeal a month ago and they have yet to respond to it or contact me in any way.
Now, what does this have to do with favoritism you may ask? Well, we live in a society now where people will do ANYTHING for a quick buck. It’s no surprise to some of you that server staff prioritizes streamers over regular players. They basically treat them as gods with 0 rules, and streamers are allowed to basically break rules whenever they want because hey, they bring in the players and players bring in more money. That’s just the world we live in, and it sucks.
I’m not here to complain about my ban, but to inform everyone on how money hungry society has gotten in the past 100 years. We literally went from appreciating 90c to kicking people to the street just because they can’t/won’t pay money to keep their status on the server, it’s shameful.
Well, you have almost 30.000 servers to choose from, what you describe is unfortunately decently common nowadays. Just find another server that values players over money, there’s got to be some out there
And now you see, the players are part of the problem too. Every player just wants to be on the “popular” servers that have streamers and only care about the profit over passion. Any time you mention to them about joining a server that isn’t one of those, or creating their own, its hands in the air.
You are complaining about basic capitalism which makes the world turn. Nothing we, as the great unwashed can do about it unfortunately.
Streamers getting favoured over others? Of course, they bring in the revenue. No different to any other business profiteering off others.
I personally dont understand why anyone would pay real money to play a game. $400 for a digital house, that you dont keep if you leave a server? Monthly subscriptions to be in a server? Grinding on an economy server?
As 4iY says, if you dont like it, there are nearly 30k to choose from. I’d rather be on a small server where I have a voice and a good group to be with than ppl grinding to make money.
However, I believe the message Slims wants to convey is that the Cfx.re team still doesn’t take appropriate action against these capitalist servers that profit from every angle (houses, server management roles, vehicles, in-game advantages in general, etc.) in the same way they have with certain other servers, where they’ve been stricter. I’ve dealt with people who had their server blocked without even the possibility of appealing, while other slightly larger servers were given a second chance.
I want to create my own unique custom one, one where all players are treated equally, regardless of status or not, but due to financial issues tied to health issues, I don’t think it is feasible. Perhaps I should still try
Do some basic calculations, see what’s on offer for a VPS - you don’t need particularly powerful hardware, thankfully. A general server layout is 4-6 threads / logic cores, ideally 3.0+ GHz (“consumer” CPU as compared to a “server” one), no more than 8 GBs of RAM (any RAM will do) and at least 100 Mbps uplink (ideally a gig’, though, usually not much more expensive) if you’re going to be running a single server.
As for the scripts, best do stuff yourself - always worth it in the long run.
And herein lies some of the issues you raise.
The vps and associated costs for us is around $70 per month. The server has round 10 + regular players 2-4 days a week, each session lasting around 4 hours.
You need to attract players, so you need to have a very good promotional strategy to advertise.
You need to learn about vps backend stuff, scripts, maps, mlos, vehicles, conflict resolution, have plenty of time to put into self education and constant troubleshooting, or you pay a dev.
You have to make maps and mlos to make the server unique and interesting or buy them if you dont have the skills or someone with the passion to provide them for free.
You need to be able to trust people to do a job if you pay them, and you will never know their true abilities until the job is done. And suck up the loss when they charge and dont fix it.
You will have plenty of ppl who come in the server who offer the world, and it lasts days or weeks and then they drop you, so you have to start again.
You need to be a negotiator, conflict resolution expert, HR manager, public relations officer, etc etc.
Being a server owner is expensive, time consuming and mentally challenging.
i know this sounds negative but its some of the reality of being a server owner. I am sure there are plenty of other things other server owners could add to the list.
Being a server owner is a rollercoaster ride, days of highs and days of lows.
I dont regret it, but if it closes, I will just go back to being a player and enjoying the RP again
there are some servers out there that value players over money and the passion of just playing the game and meeting new ppl and hanging out in the city and having a good time i own one of those servers ive been up and running for like a yr or so now trying everything i can to build the city up im advertising on every social media out there and have gotten a few players but not much so if thats what you are looking for is a city that values players over $ i could use some help growing my community
Thats unfortunate and I can see how losing the time invested could be frustrating but if your seeking a new server to be apart of - We run things with care and have no interest in pay to win tactics.
