I will always recommend a VPS/dedicated server over game hosting, especially for long term setups.
Here are some of the ones I tell people: OVH, Azure, Contabo, Hetzner, Google Cloud Platform, Linode, Vultr, DigitalOcean, NFO, 1of1. Out of those OVH and 1of1 are probably going to be the best in terms of DDoS protection on it’s own. That doesn’t stop you from getting protection from an outside company though.
