SERVER CONTROLLER 🖥️ | Backups, Restores & txAdmin Updates for FiveM & RedM [STANDALONE APP]

Server Controller — Your FiveM / RedM Server, Backed Up and Up to Date

Server Controller is a standalone Windows desktop app for running a FiveM or RedM server: one executable, nothing to install. From one window it starts, stops and restarts FXServer, backs up the database and the server files, restores any backup and keeps txAdmin up to date.

No resource. No server.cfg edits. It runs next to your server, not inside it, so it works with every framework (ESX, QBCore, QBox, VORP, RSG, standalone… all of them).

Current version: 1.6.0. It comes in two editions:

  • Free — everything you do by hand. No account, no sign-in, no licence: download it, open it, and it works.
  • Pro — everything that happens without you: overnight backups and updates, backups copied home, Discord alerts, remote control, and several servers in one window.

Your settings live in %APPDATA%\ServerController\, so moving from Free to Pro (or to a newer version) keeps your whole setup.

:gear: Free: run it by hand

:desktop_computer: Server Control — start, stop and restart FXServer, with its live status on the dashboard.

:bar_chart: Live Dashboard — CPU, RAM, disk and network meters, the activity log as it happens, and a real progress bar for every long job.

:floppy_disk: Database Backups — mysqldump backups at the press of a button, with one-click restore.

:package: Server File Backups — zips your resources folder, with folders you can leave out so you skip the heavy stuff.

:recycling_symbol: Restore — roll back any database, server file or txAdmin backup from its row.

:up_arrow: txAdmin Updates — checks FiveM’s official artifacts, backs up your current server, downloads the recommended build, extracts it and restarts FXServer. One click.

:compass: Database Setup Wizard — scans every drive for XAMPP, WAMP, Laragon, MySQL and MariaDB, reads the mysql_connection_string straight out of your server.cfg, and tests the connection for real. No MySQL within reach? Switch database backups off and the rest carries on.

:stethoscope: Help & Setup — a live check of your install where every warning has a button that goes straight to the fix, step-by-step guides, and a list of symptoms with their fixes.

:artist_palette: The Poggy Look — every Poggy theme (Ambarino Frost, Poggy Gold, Blackwater Steel, Saint Denis Wine, the light Ledger and more) or your own colours. The same themes as in game.

:counterclockwise_arrows_button: Updates Itself — checks for a new version every 12 hours, asks once, then waits in a gold line at the top until you click it.

:star: Pro: while you sleep, and from anywhere

:crescent_moon: Automatic Schedule — database backups, file backups and txAdmin updates at the times and days you pick. Missed one because the PC was asleep or restarting? It catches up within the hour, and the log says it ran late.

:inbox_tray: Backups Come Home — copy any backup onto the PC you are sitting at, with speed and time remaining, or have every new one collected automatically. A backup that only lives on the server dies with the server.

:bell: Discord Alerts — a post the moment the server stops or starts, a backup finishes or something fails. Pick the events.

:globe_with_meridians: Run It From Anywhere — run the Pro app on your own PC in Remote mode and drive the server machine from there: every tab works exactly as it does on the server.

:locked_with_key: Know Who Is Connected — every machine that connects is listed by name with a live dot and when it was last seen. Disconnect one, block it for good, or forget it.

:1234: A PIN Per Device — switch it on and the auth key alone opens nothing: each machine needs your approval and its own 4-digit PIN. Issue a new PIN and exactly one machine is locked out.

:card_index_dividers: Several Servers, One Window — Dev, Staging and Live on one box, each with its own paths, ports, schedule, alerts and backup folders, switched from the top bar, all at a glance on the dashboard. From a client, drive more than one server machine.

Get Support: Poggy Scripts

:rocket: Setup in 60 seconds

  1. Run ServerController.exe (or ServerControllerPro.exe) on your server machine and pick Local Server.
  2. Fill in your paths in Settings: backup folders, txAdmin folder, 7-Zip. The Database Setup wizard finds and tests your MySQL details for you.
  3. Back up, restore, update or restart from the dashboard. With Pro, set the schedule and go to bed.

Activating Pro: sign in with Discord, or, on a shared server box where you would rather not sign in, type the app’s code at poggy.app/activate from your phone, or get a PIN by Discord DM. Neither of those signs the server machine into anything.

:clipboard: Requirements

  • Windows (Windows Server fully supported; WebView2 installs itself if missing)
  • MySQL / MariaDB client tools (mysqldump / mysql) for database backups
  • 7-Zip for txAdmin updates

Server Controller has no analytics, tracking or telemetry. It doesn’t report usage, collect statistics or upload anything about you or your server. Your server files, database contents, backups and passwords stay on your own machines.

It only reaches the internet for these, and only when they’re in use:

Connection Goes to When
txAdmin updates FiveM’s official artifacts server (runtime.fivem.net) When an update check or install runs
Its own updates GitHub (api.github.com), the app’s public release page Every 12 hours, and when you click Update
Script suggestions (Free only) poggy.app/llms.txt At most once a day; Pro never fetches it
Pro licence poggy.app (and Discord, if you sign in with it) When you activate, when Pro starts, and every 12 hours
Discord alerts (Pro) The Discord webhook you paste in When an event you ticked happens
Remote mode (Pro) Only your own server machine, with your auth key While a client is connected
WebView2 install Microsoft (go.microsoft.com) Only if Windows is missing it, on first launch
Support & help links Your web browser Only when you click one

A licence server that cannot be reached never locks a Pro copy: only a definite “no” does.

:shield: About Windows warnings

The exe isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows its standard warning for unsigned programs. Choose More info → Run anyway.

FIVEM & REDM SERVER CONTROLLER - v1.0.2

Drop ServerController.exe anywhere and run it. Settings and logs live in
%APPDATA%\ServerController, so replacing the exe with this one keeps
everything you have already set up.

NEW: THERE IS NOW A FREE VERSION

The first screen asks which you want. “Continue Free” runs the app with no
licence at all; “Activate with Discord” unlocks everything as before. The
choice is remembered, and a free install can be upgraded at any time without
reinstalling anything.

Free covers running and protecting one server by hand:

  • Start, stop and restart your server
  • Database and server file backups, made whenever you press the button
  • Restore any backup
  • Check for and apply TxAdmin updates
  • The database setup wizard, activity log and system resources

The licensed version adds everything that happens without you:

  • The automatic schedule - backups and TxAdmin updates run overnight
  • Downloading backups off the server, by hand or as each one is made
  • Discord alerts the moment something fails
  • Running the server from another PC, with the device list and PINs

Nothing is hidden. Locked screens still open and explain what they do, and
say plainly which part needs a licence.

If a licence lapses the app does not stop - the activation screen now offers
to carry on with the free version instead.

NEW: SEE AND CONTROL WHO IS CONNECTED

The Remote tab lists every machine that has connected with your auth key.

  • A green dot marks a link that is live right now.
  • Give each machine a nickname so the list reads like your setup rather
than a column of IP addresses.
  • Disconnect drops that machine’s link immediately.
  • Block also refuses it from then on, even though it still holds the key -
the one to reach for if a key has got out.
  • Forget wipes it from the list entirely.

NEW: A PIN FOR EACH MACHINE (OPTIONAL)

Tick “Ask every machine for its own 4-digit PIN” on the Remote tab and the
auth key stops being enough on its own. Each machine must also be approved by
you, and must enter the four-digit PIN shown beside it.

  • A key that leaks is worth nothing without the matching PIN.
  • Machines already on your list are approved automatically when you switch
this on, so nobody is locked out unexpectedly - they just need their PIN.
  • A genuinely new machine appears as “waiting for approval” and gets in only
    when you say so.
  • The refresh button next to a PIN issues a new one and drops that machine
on the spot, without touching anyone else.

On the client, the Device PIN box sits under the auth key. If a server asks
for a PIN, the app says so in plain words and puts the cursor in the box.

FIXED: DOWNLOADS FAILED WHILE PINS WERE ON

With per-device PINs switched on, downloading a backup was refused with “this
server asks each machine for its own PIN” even though the PIN was right and
everything else on the same connection worked. Downloads use their own
connection - a multi-gigabyte transfer cannot sit under the same timeout as an
ordinary request - and that connection was sending the auth key without the
PIN. It now sends both.

FIXED: DOWNLOAD PROGRESS IN REMOTE MODE

Downloading a backup from a remote server started the transfer but showed no
progress bar at all - the download ran invisibly and a second click only said
“already downloading”. In remote mode the app’s live feed comes from the
server, and a download runs on your own machine, so its progress was being
published somewhere nothing was listening. The two are now merged: the bar
appears in the backup row and in the Downloads panel, with speed and time
remaining, exactly as it does on a local server.

A long Windows path in the Downloads panel could also stretch the window
sideways. Paths are now trimmed with an ellipsis instead.

ALSO IN THIS RELEASE

  • The version is shown at the bottom of the sidebar, so it can be read off
    without hunting through menus.
  • In remote mode the sidebar says “Driving a remote server” rather than
    “Local only”, which was misleading.
  • A blocked machine no longer offers an Approve button - unblock it first.

Update: I found and fixed an issue with the sign-in page behind the “Activate with Discord” button, which is only used to activate a paid licence. It never affected the free version: “Continue Free” works entirely inside the app and doesn’t use the website or a browser at all. No customers were affected.

The free version is still fully usable, and the exe scans clean on VirusTotal: VirusTotal

Edit, for transparency about what the app connects to:

The free version sends nothing to me. There’s no analytics, tracking or telemetry, and everything runs on your own PC. It only connects out when you use something that needs it:

  • txAdmin updates download from FiveM’s official server (runtime.fivem.net).
  • WebView2, if Windows doesn’t have it, installs from Microsoft.
  • Links you click (store, Discord, database tool downloads) open in your browser.
  • Paid features stay between your own things: Discord alerts go to your own webhook, and remote access and backup downloads only connect your own machines to each other.

Paid licence only: activation signs you in with Discord on rosewoodridge.xyz to check your licence role. After that, the app re-checks every 12 hours by sending its licence and an anonymous machine ID (a one-way hash that can’t be turned back into anything).

Your server files, database, backups and passwords never leave your machines.

:new_button: Update — v1.3.0

Everything that has changed since 1.0.3, in one go.

Several servers from one install. Dev, Staging and Live from a single window: a switcher in the top bar, every server’s status together on the dashboard, and each one keeping its own paths, schedule, alerts and backup folders. (Paid version.)

Fixed: stopping one server could stop them all. FXServer used to be found by process name alone, so a box running more than one reported them as a single server — and Stop hit every one of them. Each server’s processes are now matched to its own folder.

A txAdmin port for each server. Two servers on one box cannot share txAdmin’s port — the second simply refuses to start — so each server has its own, set in Settings and passed to FXServer on startup. Adding a server picks the next free port for you (40120, 40125, 40130…).

Stopping a server frees its port. txAdmin runs the server as a child process, and a child left running keeps the port, so the next start fails with “address in use”. Stopping now takes down everything the server started and waits for the port to come free — and if something else is still holding it, the log says what.

Backups you can turn off. Database backups, server file backups and the copy taken before a txAdmin update each have their own switch. Off means off, by hand and on a schedule.

Backups that cannot delete themselves. “Backups to keep” can no longer be set to zero. It used to mean “make a backup, report success, then delete it along with every older one” — the app is now honest that the switch above is how you stop backups.

Activation without signing into Discord on your server box. A shared box should not have your Discord account sitting on it. Type a short code at rosewoodridge.xyz/activate from your phone, or have the bot DM you a PIN — nothing signs in on the server machine itself. (Paid version.)

Remote clients mind their own business. Each connected copy remembers which server it is showing, so two people on two machines no longer drag each other’s screen around. Switching servers no longer reloads the window either — you stay on the page you were on.

Free and paid are separate downloads now. The free build contains no activation code at all: no licence check, no sign-in, nothing to unlock. It is the one linked at the top of this thread.

As before, the exe is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen shows its usual warning for unsigned programs — scan it yourself if you like. Questions are welcome in the Discord.
