Running a FiveM server from a local machine to a VPS via SSH

I removed the template because I don’t feel it is relevant for me to fill it out.

Hi, recently a friend and I opened up a FiveM server, and I have a spare computer hanging around, FX 8350, 16gb ddr3, 50mbps up and down speed, and to reduce costs, we feel it would be necessary to attempt to run the server off this computer, only problem is, I don’t want my IP known commonly, along with compromising my home internet connection in the case of a trigger happy ddosser.

So, I have recently discovered that I can have Putty running on my home computer, to establish a connection to a VPS, and forward ports for the FiveM server, a website and possibly a mumble server, but the latter two won’t be until my area receives a network upgrade.

I have knowledge in the area of port forwarding furthermore a fair amount of knowledge in the scheme of networking as I used to run multiple game servers via the same method I hope to use to host my FiveM server.

So the question is, how would I go about hosting this? and is it even possible granted FiveM server’s high dependency on fivem APIs?

Note: I have found a VPS with a 1gbps up and down speed, ranging from 1-4 gb of ram, running Linux Debian for under 20$ a year, that I hope to run OpenSSH (server) on. I won’t provide a link unless prompted as to avoid violating forum’s TOS.

I also have FULL access to forward ALL ports on my router (within government regulations, so you know, 80/443, 21, and of course 301*0)

(I live in Australia)

Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
