[RivalityFX] Round-based PvP arenas — duels, squads, battle royale, ranked (Alpha, US-East)

Hi everyone :waving_hand:

I’m fairly new to FiveM. When I discovered the platform I wanted something simple that I couldn’t really find: a server where you connect, pick a mode, fight, and climb the board. No roleplay, no jobs, no inventory grind. So I built it from scratch — a custom engine, no ESX or QBox underneath.

The result is RivalityFX, a round-based PvP arena server. Every match runs in its own isolated instance (routing buckets), so simultaneous matches never interfere with each other — several duels and a battle royale can run in parallel, each in its own bubble.

It just opened for its first public test season, so fair warning: it’s an Alpha. Balance, maps and cosmetics will move around, and there will be bugs. Here’s a tour of what’s playable today.

The lobby

You spawn at Legion Square in Los Santos — a hub, not a gameplay zone. The main menu opens on its own a couple of seconds after you spawn, and ESC reopens it any time.

The left rail is the mode selector, and each mode has its own cover page: art, a one-line pitch, and a single Play button that drops you straight into that mode’s quick-play queue — one click from the menu to a match. Under it, the mode’s Quick Play and Ranked queues are listed in separate sections (never one mixed list), plus Custom for player-made arenas.

The menu is also where you pick your character skin and weapon wrap — purely visual cosmetics. There is no pay-to-win here, ever: loadouts are symmetric and set by the match, never by anyone’s wallet.

You can also spectate a live match from the browser instead of joining one.

Squads and the party panel

Press G to open the Party panel — its own surface, separate from the main menu. Invite anyone from the lobby roster; they get a simple Accept / Decline prompt without opening anything. The owner can kick, anyone can leave, and when the owner joins an arena the whole party lands on the same team.

If you prefer typing, chat commands exist too: /rfx group invite <id>, accept, decline, info, leave, kick.

1v1 Duel

The core of the server. Two players, one arena, best-of rounds (default best of 5 — first to 3). A round ends when someone goes down, or when the 90-second timer runs out.

You pick the map and the weapon loadout: pistols, SMG, rifle, sniper, shotgun — or random, which rolls a symmetric loadout, identical for both players, re-rolled every match. Six maps ship today: Warehouse, Parking Lot, Desert Hangar, Prison Yard, Vinewood Bowl, Scrapyard. Duels use ground spawns — no parachute, you’re face to face immediately.

2v2 Duel

Same best-of structure, but two teams of two. A round ends when a whole enemy team is down. Bring a friend through the party panel and you queue onto the same team — solo players get filled into teams as well.

Battle Royale

Up to 32 players parachute into one arena. No respawns, last one standing wins. It works on a gather-and-countdown: once 12 players are queued, a 45-second drop countdown arms and everyone drops together. You get body armour on drop, plus a loadout you pick (or a symmetric random one). A safety time cap resolves stalemates so a match never drags forever.

Squad Royale

Same drop, but in squads: up to 16 squads of 2 in one arena, no respawns, last squad standing wins. It’s group-only — you drop with your party.

Ranked

Ranked is where stats are recorded — casual matches count for nothing, which keeps the leaderboard clean (no farming your friends in a private arena).

Every mode’s cover lists its Ranked queues in their own section. Each one is a fixed configuration — a specific loadout and round count — so everyone on that ladder fights under identical rules. Pick one, get placed, and the match starts automatically when it fills. No ready-check, no host.

Your K/D, wins and win rate are tracked per mode, on two layers: a never-reset career layer and the current season. We’re in Season Alpha right now — when a new season opens, the season board resets for a fresh race, but career stats are kept forever. Results land on the public site within seconds of a match ending.

Create your own arena

Hit Custom on any mode’s cover and you get that mode’s arena browser — every player-made arena, filterable, with Join, Spectate, and + Create.

Creating one is a single form: pick the map, the loadout, the number of rounds, and optionally a password to make it private — then only people with the join code get in. Public arenas show up in that same browser for anyone to join.

One design detail I care about: membership and management are separate. If you disconnect, your arena doesn’t dissolve — you keep the manager role when you come back, and you delete it yourself when you’re done. (Ranked queues are opened server-side only — players create casual arenas.)

Come have a look

The server is hosted in US-East — EU players, expect transatlantic ping. Tell me if that’s you: the region can still change during the alpha depending on where testers actually come from.

That’s the whole idea: drop in, fight, see your name move on the board. It’s early, it’s rough in places, and I’d genuinely love to hear what you think — good or bad.

See you at Legion Square :bullseye:

Trouble connecting?

I recently posted a full presentation of the server, a round-based PvP arena I’ve been building solo on a custom engine (no ESX/QBox, no roleplay). This post is much shorter, because it’s just one thing: an invitation to come break my alpha.

The deal

  1. Play a few matches on the alpha server — 1v1 Duel, 2v2 Duel, Battle Royale (up to 32 players) or Squad Royale. Ranked ladders and a public live leaderboard are up too.
  2. Come back with one useful piece of feedback: a bug you hit, something that felt bad, or a feature you’d want.
  3. I grant you the Story cosmetic pack — free, permanently.

The Story pack is 6 playable character skins: Michael, Franklin, Trevor, Lamar, Lester and Amanda. In the normal economy it’s either included with a VIP subscription (rented — gone if you stop paying) or bought once (yours for life). Testers get the owned-for-life version, granted directly to your account. Not a trial, not a rental. You keep it even if you never spend a cent, and long after the alpha ends.

To be crystal clear, because forum rules matter and so does honesty: I am not asking for praise. “Matchmaking got stuck”, “the menu confused me”, “the ping was rough” — critical feedback earns the pack exactly as much as a compliment. Honestly, more. That’s what I actually need to fix things.

Also: skins are purely visual. No pay-to-win — cosmetics never affect a match, loadouts are symmetric and set by the match.

What helps most

  • Anything that broke or crashed
  • Matchmaking that didn’t fill or didn’t start
  • Anything confusing in the menu
  • How the ping felt — the server is in US-East for now, and where it ends up depends on where testers actually come from, so EU players, please tell me how bad it is
  • Which mode you’d want next

How to claim

Play, then reply in this thread (or post in the Discord) with your in-game name and your feedback. I grant the pack manually — I’m one person, so it might take a day or so to land. It will land.

This is Season Alpha — the first public test. Things will be rough in places; that’s the whole point of you being here. Come ruin my evening with bug reports, I’ll be genuinely grateful. :folded_hands:

See you in the arena,
