[Request] Client support for Linux

While I keep seeing mentions of Rockstar’s AC not working properly on Linux, what I haven’t really seen addressed is that people like my self who want to play with FiveM in single player or perhaps with specific friends in a private server, neither of which requires AC. One of the reasons I wanted to try out FiveM is for all the modding that I’ve seen in the videos on the FailRace YouTube channel.

I have tried running the FiveM.exe installer in the same proton prefix as the main game (which runs just fine on its own as others have mentioned) but it wont even start the Windows version set to 10 and with 7 it starts and immediately yields the the OS-not-supported message, which then quits when dismissed.

Is there really no way to get it to run without the AC for those of us that just want to play around with it privately?

You can absolutely run FiveM without adhesive. There are tons of posts talking about this and give instructions on how to do it. It just limits your ability to join any servers but is completely fine if you are playing alone.

I’d like to request official Linux client support for FiveM. Linux gaming has grown significantly in recent years thanks to Proton and Steam Deck, and many players now use Linux as their main gaming platform.

At the moment, while FiveM can sometimes be made to run on Linux through Wine/Proton, access to most servers is still blocked because of anti-cheat compatibility. This means Linux users are effectively excluded from the normal FiveM experience. Supporting Linux would make FiveM more accessible to a growing number of players who prefer an alternative to Windows, whether for performance, privacy, or platform choice. Even if full support is difficult in the short term, official communication or a roadmap on the matter would already be very valuable for the community. Please consider native or officially supported Linux compatibility for the FiveM client in the future. I believe many users would benefit from it.

My prediction from January was 5% for the following year, and here we are at 5.33% after just three months.
