Let me answer some of those questions
-
Personal recommendation: Avoid Zap - the hardware they provide is way overloaded. Rent a VPS or a dedicated server from a budget company (such as “soyoustart”) for the time being and then transition to something better, such as OVH, later on.
- Running a server on Linux means almost no support as Linux does not really allow you to properly log and troubleshoot C++ related issues. Always host on Windows!
- It’s arguably the same, however for usability purposes I personally suggest using Lua wherever possible. It’s a lot easier to develop in as you’re not required to compile your code with every small change you make. If you don’t know Lua I highly suggest learning it at least for the fact that the majority of public resource are written in it.
- Not really. Thing is, FiveM is not able to “enable” any SP or MP scripts, including missions and whatnot, but it does have all the assets for them (interiors, peds etc).
The “to which expansions” question can be answered by “what you choose”. The vanilla build FiveM runs is 1604 (“The Arena Wars” DLC), however you can optionally run on 2060 (“Diamond Casino Heist” DLC), 2189 (“Cayo Perico Heist” DLC) or 2372 (“LS Tuners” DLC), enabling you to use all the assets included in the chosen and all the previous updates.
