Port forward not working :(

Make sure that you have a static IP and disable any anti security things

I’m having the same issue. I have a bunch of other ports forwarded that work fine (csgo, ftp, ssl etc etc). But port 30120 just does not seem to be open. I have tried disabling all firewalls on my ubuntu machine and still the same result. Port 30120 is closed.

Try changing to a new port

Tried 30127 before and it didn’t work. I’m not sure if the server actually starts listening to the port

Do you have the key for the fivem server? At the bottom of server.cfg

Yes, I do and it confirms that it authenticated the key.

I am currently in the works of talking to my ISP to see if they are blocking 30120, but I highly doubt it.

Disabled any anti-virus?

I don’t have any anti-virus on my ubuntu

Allowing it through a firewall?

@PurplePrius

I sure have.

Oh I feel stupid. Have a static IP? ā€œWhats my ipā€ in google. It needs to be 0.0.0.0, not a long string of numbers

This guy is incorrect and im unsure why he keeps telling people this… it does NOT have to be a static ip so please for the love of god ignore this bit… im not sure where hes getting this information from.

the ONLY difference between static and dynamic is Static IP’s do not change but Dynamics do…

Whatever your problem is is either you are not port forwarding with TCP/UDP or something is blocking it.

Another thing thats driving me nuts with this guys information is him saying it needs to be 0.0.0.0 and not a string of numbers ā€œtroll maybe?ā€ but if it was all 0’s for everyone with a ā€œstaticā€ ip how does it cypher the differences between peoples internet connections hm?.

so pls… stop telling people this its hurting my brain.

I’m well aware of what static IPs are and that my IP cannot even be 0.0.0.0, I’ve worked with networking for 2,5 years now!

If anyone manages to have their wan IP 0.0.0.0, then I would like to congratulate them!

right? this is why i dont understand where this guy gets his information from… he must be trolling.

The 0.0.0.0 is an example jesus christ

Is that how you are going to fix what you said? lol then tell us what you really ment with a proper example as IP’s are typically long numbers and justify your statement of ā€œyou need a static ipā€ā€¦ i really am interested and wanna see a better example.

Let’s not forget that having a static IP makes 0 difference. Only difference is if I change my IP, then the players needs join a different IP. Nothing else

I realize this is a boneyard issue, but as a matter of fact, a server should have a static IP so you are not changing IP’s, as this will take a server down. Whenever I have a server on the LAN I always make sure its Static. This doesn’t help on the WAN side of things, but it is one less connection item I have to worry about.

should and ā€œneedā€ is something completely different to what the guy we were responding to was saying, every server should use a static ip as its more convenient but is not necessary.

This dude at the time was telling people you have to have a static ip otherwise it will not work hence the responses he got here.

It is a mystery to me how you can work with networking for over two years and not know that ā€œbind to 0.0.0.0ā€ means ā€œbind to all available interfacesā€.

Unless you know exactly what you’re doing, it should be left on 0.0.0.0!
