Lately, it feels like the only real way to grow a community is through word of mouth—unless you’re willing (and able) to throw tens of thousands into ads each month just to stay on the front page.
Honestly, I’ve seen servers with 1000+ upvotes sitting at 10–20 concurrent players, and I still can’t wrap my head around how that adds up. But I guess that’s just the reality now—it’s more common than it should be.
I’ve personally tried just about everything: social media campaigns, paid ads, posting on forums—basically every angle you can think of. So far, none of it has made a meaningful impact.
I even reached out to streamers (a bunch of them), and not a single one responded. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, or maybe that’s just how things are now.
Curious to hear what’s worked for others. How have you managed to grow your server? Any strategies you found effective that don’t require massive budgets?
