NB SCRIPTS · NB Editor (REDM EDITION)
Your server deserves better footage than a shaky freecam
RDR2 is the best-looking world Rockstar has ever built, and RedM gives you no way to film it. There is no Rockstar Editor, no replay, no camera tools — just whatever you can manage holding a freecam steady by hand.
nb_editor is two camera tools in one resource. One builds a trailer shot by shot. The other locks onto a rider, a horse or a wagon and films them in real time while they play.
Trailer Editor
Press E to drop a keyframe. That’s the whole learning curve.
Shots, not clips. A trailer is a list of shots in the side rail — each with its own camera move, look, length and transition. The ribbon along the bottom shows the whole edit with every shot sized to its duration. Click anywhere to scrub the entire trailer.
Camera paths that look deliberate. Fly, drop a keyframe, repeat. The path between them is a Catmull-Rom spline with per-keyframe easing — linear, ease in, ease out, or hold on the spot. Rotations are unwrapped before interpolation, so a camera crossing north turns the short way instead of spinning a full circle.
Camera rigs. Aim at a wagon and click to select it, then:
- Mount the camera to it — keyframes become offsets that travel with it. Ride the back of a stagecoach, sit on a train, chase a rider down a canyon.
- Point the camera at it — rotation is recomputed every frame, so the subject stays framed however they move.
Do both to the same horse and your keyframes describe an orbit around it.
Actor takes — film scenes on your own. Hit record, act the scene out, stop. The take replays on a double built from your own model and outfit, so you can then fly a camera around your own performance. Record a ride the same way — horse or wagon.
Horses replay properly, not as sliding statues: the gait is driven so a gallop reads as a gallop. Stack several takes in one shot and you have a rider coming down the trail, a lookout on the ridge, and a wagon pulling in — all performed by you.
Beats. Scrub to a moment in a take and pin an animation to it. Full-body beats hand the ped over completely; upper-body beats layer over the walk, so an actor can tip their hat while walking the route you recorded. Beats lock to an exact animation frame when scrubbing.
Set dressing. Place people, horses, wagons and props anywhere the camera points. Poses, outfits, wagon dirt, wrecked bodywork. The whole set saves with the trailer.
Cut to music. Paste a track, tap along on tap-tempo to read the BPM, and lay a bar grid across the ribbon. Then snap each shot so it lands exactly on a bar.
Weather and time you control. Lock the hour, lock the weather, and pick per shot — so a trailer can cut from a misty dawn to a thunderstorm without waiting for either. Plus colour grades, letterbox, camera shake, title cards, cut/fade/flash transitions, slow motion down to 5%, auto-focus depth of field, and full undo/redo.
Trailers save to your database and load back complete.
Live Camera
Nothing freezes. You keep riding.
The camera locks onto you — or any nearby player — and films. Choose whether it frames the person, their horse or wagon, or whichever fits, so it follows someone onto a mount and back off again automatically.
Eight rigs: Orbit, Panorama, Chase, Lead, Side, Crane, Drone, and Locked off.
Lock it in place. Plant the camera exactly where it is and it stays behind as you ride away — a camera on a tripod at the roadside. Or plant it ahead of you, down the trail and off to one side, so you can gallop straight past it. Once planted it can pan after you with a weighted tripod drag, zoom to hold you at a constant size as you pull away, or refuse to move at all and let you leave frame.
Camera weight uses proper exponential damping — frame-rate independent, and it reads as physical camera mass. Low values feel tight and reactive. High values lag and settle like an operator on a fluid head.
The camera pulls itself in when terrain gets between it and the subject, so tight orbits in gulches and treelines stay usable.
