Important parts

What is the issue you’re having?
FiveM crashes on launch

What are you trying to do?
I am trying to guide my friend through getting his FiveM to work.

What have you tried already to fix the issue?
Uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and following a couple of youtube guides where he essentially deleted his content cache

Error screenshot (if any):

What did you do to get this issue?
He was having trouble playing GTA V without FiveM and I was able to troubleshoot through rockstar and update his video drivers. But then we tried to get FiveM going and it never worked.

What server did you get this issue on? Be specific and name some, ‘all of them’ by itself isn’t useful!
He has never been able to join a single server or look at the server list.

Additional comments

I’m sure there is a simple fix to all of this, we just aren’t very tech savy. I tried my best to follow the guidelines of the post, but I may have been confused or made a mistake somewhere, bear with me! I love FiveM and I want my friend to be able to enjoy the experience with me because it truly is everything GTA V should have been! I appreciate all the developers who made this happen!

He never joined a server, his FiveM crashes 5 seconds after he opens it.

This is… weird, and somehow a common crash as well.

What NVIDIA graphics card is being used here? For some reason, the game is having some issue assigning GPU memory, this would normally be related to an in-game setting (maybe automatic configuration?) or maybe unlucky window layout (unusual multi-monitor setup?).

Another thing to try could be launching the game with -windowed added to the EXE’s arguments (usually you can do this to the FiveM shortcut created in the Start menu, make sure there’s a space after the .exe" and the -).

I relayed this info to him, I’ll let you know when he tries it and how it goes. So he just adds the -windowed to the shortcut? Or does he edit the .exe file in the game folder?

you right click on the FiveM shortcut and go to properties. then you want to do as suggested in the “target” area.

Sorry, I’m a bit confused. What do I click after I get the properties menu open?

you simply right click on the FiveM shortcut and go to properties the first window that shows up will have something that says “target”.
