Mining & Smelting

Description

Mining & Smelting brings a full underground mining economy to your server. Players open mine hatch, drop into a hand-crafted cave, mine ore, smelt it into bars, and sell to a live demand-driven buyer, all without leaving the experience. As they grind, eight XP ranks unlock new perks including blasting, opening up deeper caves and richer deposits the further they progress.

Everything is ready to configure and drop in. Caves, loot tables, ranks, smelting recipes, shop prices, and buyer locations are all tunable from a handful of config files, with in-world placement handled through a simple /place command. Works out of the box on ESX, QBCore, and Qbox.

Features

Pickaxe minigame mining

Equip a pickaxe, walk up to a mineable rock, and hit moving mining targets until the rock breaks. The miner who finishes the rock earns the ore payout and XP; partial hits still grant XP for miner so groups can share the grind without fighting over kills.

Underground cave interiors

Players will work in a completely custom cave interiors. Two configured cave shells ship out of the box (medium and big mine). All caves are separate so rock amount, their value and their caved-in zones are completely individual. For example, you can have separate mines just for copper, silver and gold.

Progressive cave zones and dynamite blasting

Each cave opens into an unlocked starting area plus deeper layout zones gated by cave blockers. Once a player earns the blasting unlock, they place dynamite to clear blockers (not mineable rocks) and open the next zone with richer rock presets. Nearby players catch blast knockback, they are pushed away and ragdolled with no HP damage. Cleared progress persists.

Hands-on smelting minigame

At admin-placed smelting tables, players open an ore-selection UI, then enter a 3D scripted-camera session where they drag ore props into a crucible, heat, pour, cool, and collect iron, copper, silver, or gold bars. Drag feel and bar values are configurable.

Ranks, perks, and tiered pickaxes

Eight ranks from Rock Scraper to King of The Hill drive unlocks (blasting), bonuses (yield, rarity shift, smelting efficiency, bonus bar chance), and shop access. Four shop pickaxe tiers β€” rusty, iron, gold, diamond β€” each carry distinct damage, yield/rarity bonuses, and optional inventory durability that wears with use until the pickaxe breaks.

Stats phone with shop and leaderboards

An in-game mining app (/miningPhone by default, keybind configurable) shows Mining and Smelting lifetime stats, an Experience card with current rank and next-rank perks, dual leaderboards, and a rank-gated shop for pickaxes, helmets, and dynamite. Shop purchases spawn at the nearest shop crate with a temporary map blip. Embeds in lb-phone, lb-tablet, yseries, and qs-smartphone-pro when present.

How it plays

  1. Gear up β€” open the stats phone, buy a pickaxe (and later dynamite) from the rank-gated shop, equip it, and collect purchases from the nearest shop crate on the surface.
  2. Enter the mine β€” use a cave entrance (outside hatch); the hatch transition plays, then rocks load inside the cave interior.
  3. Mine ore β€” interact with mineable rocks and complete the pickaxe minigame; finishing a rock grants ore loot and XP, partial hits grant XP only.
  4. Go deeper β€” once blasting unlocks, plant dynamite on cave blockers to open the next layout zone with richer presets.
  5. Process and sell β€” smelt ore into bars at a smelting table, then sell bars and gems to an ore-buyer NPC while demand-based prices shift.
  6. Climb the ranks β€” track XP, perks, and leaderboards in the stats phone; reinvest in better pickaxes and dynamite as ranks unlock.

Shop crates Per-purchase delivery to the nearest shop crate location with temporary map blip; survives disconnect
Admin tools /place (smelting tables, ore buyers, shop crates), /mineinterior (cave interior props) under ls_mining.admin ACE
Persistence MySQL tables for XP, mining/smelting stats, cave progress, placements, pending shop deliveries, interior props
Localization All player-facing strings in locale.lua; rank ids stay in config and map to localized names via RankL()

Requirements

  • Framework: ESX, QBCore, or Qbox via kq_link
  • Dependencies: kq_link (inventory, economy, entity interactions, player identity), ls_mining_props (cave shells, rocks, smelting props)
  • Database: yes β€” run sql/init.sql once before first start (oxmysql or mysql-async, auto-detected)
  • ACE / permissions: ls_mining.admin for /place and placement resets; same ACE gates /mineinterior (the interior prop editor inside caves)

Server owner highlights

  • Tune caves, rock presets, rank thresholds, perks, smelting recipes, shop prices, and blips in config.lua and shop/items.lua β€” Lua-only changes need only a resource restart.
  • Place smelting tables, ore buyers, and shop crate locations in-world with /place; decorate cave interiors with /mineinterior. Everything persists in MySQL and broadcasts to all clients.
  • All player-facing copy lives in locale.lua; rank display names map through RankL() while internal rank ids stay in config.
  • Optional third-party phone embed (lb-phone, lb-tablet, yseries, qs-smartphone-pro) β€” disable the native /miningPhone command in config when using an external phone.
