Changing clock speeds of stuff, redownloading fivem, clearing cache, changing servers. I can see my two mice when on main menu of fivem is how laggy it gets.

Having same problem cant get into any server because everything blank

This has been going on for awhile for me, I shouldn’t have any lagging with a freaking rtx 2080. I can go play pubg right now in 2k with 200fps, but cant even log onto fivem, how poorly optimized is this?

As poor as the server your joining wants it to be. A base FiveM server will have the same FPS as GTA V. The more unoptimized scripts servers add, the less FPS you will get.

FiveM is just a framework, not a standalone game that runs exactly the same on each server

Well it cannot be the server as I said, its as soon as I get on fivem mainscreen and I have tried several different servers.

So what is exactly wrong when you’re just sitting on the main menu? You said you have an “issue with FiveM on main screen and ingame”, but never actually described what it is

I did describe it, the issue is horrible lag only with FiveM. As I said, as soon as I open the application when I move my mouse around, it lags so bad that I can see multiple cursors. That’s before I get into a game. I have a beast of a computer and it can run anything. Tried different games to check and see if it’s hardware side and it definitely wasn’t. If you read the post you can see everything I’ve tries so far.

@CoachKilljoy do you have multiple GPUS showing in the performance tab of task manager?

Seems to me like you’re getting something weird with your correct GPU not being used… You’re right a 2080 shouldn’t lag, but this could be down to a software/windows issue on your machine. Even if it only occurs on FiveM what you have to appreciate is this doesn’t happen to others with similar/lower/better specs.

Thanks for the response, I do not have multiple gpus being used on task manager, and this happens on and off sometimes. As far as having other people not having the same issue, they are several people I know that have the same intermittent issue. This has been going on for some while for me as well, as some days it’s good and some days it’s bad. I’m not attacking FiveM as some of these comments seem a little defensive, I just would like some help if at all possible, I enjoy using FiveM and want to continue to use it, but the intermittent issues are very annoying. :frowning:

Also if you’re referring to a previous post I had with 100% gpu usage, that issue has since been resolved

No worries mate, beginning to think you may have some OS issue there or something weird going on then…

Know it’s effort but have you tried a full reformat in a while? A fresh install is usually a nice way to nail all issues at the same time.

Are you suggesting wiping everything on my pc and starting from scratch?

Yes, it may be the best option here. After a fresh install of windows, gtaV and FiveM things should be more stable.

The reason is there could be software factors on your PC which are very hard to talk through and identify, this will fix all of those at the same time.

I may do that, I did build the pc myself so a factory reset is out of the options. Is there a way to do a complete wipe of everything and then download windows os without the need for a flash drive to install it? I could just update everything from my bios to hard drives and etc I suppose, but that is a lot of work for something that may not fix my issue lol

I would definitely back up your data, and use a flash drive to install your OS so it’s able to do a full clean installation, you don’t want it to refresh instead.

Yeah I understand your point about it not fixing it potentially, but if a full reinstall of windows dont fix it, you know the alternative is a hardware problem.

If a full reset doesn’t fix it, I’m pretty positive the only other problem would be FiveM itself as it’s intermittent. If my hardware performs above a normal level on every other game, ex: triple 144hz 1440p screens running ultra at 140fps on iracing or running pubg single screen At 2k and hitting 200fps while streaming, I believe that would mean that my hardware isn’t the issue. I could see windows possibly having something conflicted, but I believe the following results would eliminate my hardware as a possible cause. Another reason would be knowing other people who have the same intermittent issue with different hardware. I got on the night before with no issue and servers being shown, last night got on with no servers being shown and big issues. Today I will probably get on with no issue. That’s why it’s hard to see it being a OS issue or hardware.

Do you play with Vsync on or off?

Vsync is always turned off in game for me.

You should try with Vsync on in fullscreen - just to try… check your gpu is not forcing this

Appreciate the tips and will try it and let you know!
