Internet connection drops a few seconds after joining a server

What is the issue you’re having?

Hello,

I’m having a strange issue with FiveM and was hoping someone could help.

Whenever I fully join a server and start playing, after a short time my internet connection suddenly drops for a few seconds. FiveM disconnects/lags out, and then the connection comes back on its own.

Important details:

It does not happen while launching FiveM
It happens only after loading into a server and starting to play
Other games work normally
Browsing/YouTube is fine outside of FiveM
It happens on multiple servers

I already tried restarting PC/router and basic troubleshooting.

Has anyone experienced this before or knows what could cause it?

Thank you.

What have you tried already to fix the issue?

I’ve tried restarting both my PC and router multiple times, using a wired LAN connection, testing different FiveM servers, and checking if other games have the same issue (they don’t). Other games and normal browsing work fine. The problem only happens when I fully join a FiveM server and start playing. I’ve also monitored packet loss and noticed it spikes right before the connection drops.

What server did you get this issue on?

I’ve had it happen on multiple servers, so it doesn’t seem to be server-specific. I first noticed it on Revise Roleplay, but I also tested other servers and the same issue happens after I fully load in and start playing.

Check any antivirus software isn’t blocking your connection to firewall port 30120, turn off any overlays, things like nvidia etc. ensure you have no gpu enhancing software turned on. Verify your game files for gta and then clear your FiveM cache inside the data folder, delete all files inside here for a clean install. Hope this helps. MB
