This is all new to me so forgive me if i’ve posted incorrectly.
i would be grateful for any help.
I have GTA5 running on my pc (Win10)and wanted to use mods with in the game.
Having watched a few youtube videos FiveM kept being mentioned.
I downloaded the file and did a scan of file using AVG, all ok.
i then run the exe file then did a scan of the whole computer using avg all ok.
I then ran in single player mode all ok then exited this mode.
I then clicked on the server option it crashed then tried it again and AVG detect a virus and quarantined the files which removed the desktop icons. AVG lists IDP.Generic with in C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\FiveM\FiveM.app\cache\subprocess\FiveM_GTAProcess.exe.
I then used virus total on the FiveM exe file and that said Palo Alto Networks detected Generic.ml.
I have checked to see if the program is still installed, Windows is listing it in the app window but there is no listing of how much storage it is using. there is no link in the app selection window either.
I am not sure what is going on and would be grateful for any help in understanding whats happened and if there is a way to solve it.
Thank you in-advance

If you downloaded fivem safely from https://fivem.net than it’s a false positive and you should add your fivem as exception in AVG

Thanks TheIndra
i put the fivem.exe in the exception list.
i run the exe file and it need to do a update when the downloaded reached 92% an error message came up and it stopped. run the exe file again and it finished and started to install, during this process it stopped with avg again quarantined different files. i have taken a snap shot of AVG error message and the files in AVG quarantine
i would be great full if anyone can advice what to do next
this is making me nervous that having put the fivem.exe in the exception list i still have issues is it possible there is an actual risk if i keep having to add more to the exception list
add the whole folder to your excpetions not just the exe otherwise it will still get triggered by other files within the folder.
and the exception list only works for whatever you are adding to it so no, there is no risk of doing this.

Thanks Painwithin for your suggestion.
i don’t seem to have any folders other than the folder that five.exe was downloaded into which is downloads.
is it worth making a folder with in downloads and put that in the exception list or the file path that has fiveM.exe located.
D:\downloads\fiveM.exe. is in the exception list
Thanks
you might have to go into your appdata folder "click on start type in %appdata% and find fivem there and add that to exceptions.
Or, move the FiveM.exe into its own folder and add that folder to exceptions either one should work.
