FiveM not being able to connect to certain servers

What is the issue you’re having?

FiveM is not letting me connect to some servers, while other servers let me connect. Some won’t. It gives me the error message of HTTP 403: Filter Failed. It takes HOURS to load and even tell me that it failed. It also switched between giving me that error and a resource failed to download error.

What have you tried already to fix the issue?

Reinstalling FiveM, GTA. Verified GTA files within Epic Games. Deleted Cache, Deleted all server Cache, reinstalled FiveM and ran as administrator. Restarted PC. (Joined other servers because it worked before but now it doesn’t). Ran off hotspot. – This has been happening for 3 months straight now, I fixed it by joining another server but then had to delete FiveM temporarily and now it doesn’t work anymore.

What server did you get this issue on?

FiveM Sandbox and Eastern Coast Roleplay

Additional comments

FiveM doesn’t fully crash, the notification pops up on the FiveM home screen about the server failing to load or with that HTTP error. FiveM doesn’t crash to a point where it closes fivem. I don’t have a crash log.

This is in most cases an ISP-related issue due to throttling of certain kinds of traffic, namely UDP and/or P2P (peer-to-peer) which is common in some countries. Use a VPN to play to bypass it.

The VPN did not work.

The VPN did not fix it, is there anything else I can do?

I assume the VPN you tried is either bad - most free ones are horrible for performance, FYI - or VPN traffic is also being throttled. Use a solid, reputable provider (I cannot recommend any specific ones here, but it’s not hard to find lists online or whatever), and make sure to enable whatever traffic obfuscation means they have.

I know the VPN was working, it was a free one but it worked. It was Proton VPN, I know it was working because the same day and also the day after having it installed and connected, my laptop needed to verify a few things and it send it to my phone as a popup, the location my phone said my laptop was in, was miles away from where I actually am. (It also changed locations twice too)

I just tried another VPN that was more secure and stayed in 1 location. It is not working, now my question is. Why does it take hours in order to load into these servers? Is it a device issue, server issue, resource issue or what? Because it’s only happening on the servers that don’t allow me to load into. Also another question, if you look at my specs, everyone I know that plays FiveM says that I should not be able to even play it with what I have. Could that be the issue since FiveM has updated everything and maybe it’s just too much for my laptop now?

In the absolute majority of cases it’s a connection-related issue, but in your case since you’ve removed that from being an option then it must be something else. I would start with performing a RAM memtest as well as running checkdisk, if you have SSDs installed send the short SMART self-check here.

Your laptop is by no means amazing and the 8 GBs of RAM is barely enough, especially for Windows 11, but it doesn’t explain why some servers work and some don’t - there’s something else at play

I scanned the checkdisk, nothing showed up. It says for the RAMmemtest I need a USB and I don’t have one to put into it. I also tested the SMART check, it said 21% for health status for CrystalDiskInfo. I am going to assume that is the issue then?

21% health status for an SSD means “on the brink of death”, but you’d usually see issues in other places first - slow file operations, issues in other games etc.

In any case, your SSD needs urgent replacement, do it ASAP before it breaks and you lose files.

Yeah, I have been thinking about getting a new PC either way. So from what you know now, is the SSD the main issue from the FiveM failures?

That’s not the right conclusion here - there’s a reason I asked you to check several things and we started with network stuff, as you recall. A bad SSD can cause issues, but it’d be wrong to assume that it’s the “main issue” at all.

Okay.. What’s the steps further then?

Is there anything else I could test or am I just gonna have to get a new PC or something?

Hi, if my English is bad, it’s because it’s not my native language.

I’ve also been experiencing the same issue for days with my localhost. I get the same message, and when I open the other window where I can log in with “connect,” I get a message saying that the artifact (my locale) is outdated. I’ve tried updating it, and it works, but I have so many mods and scripts that get outdated because of this.
I’ve read everything, and they mention things like backdoor viruses, and I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried everything, and I just want to go back to version 1604.

Yeah, I’m not sure. Seems like they are done with this ticket though since they stopped responding. I hope you figure it out though!

and @DarkHellfire463YT, create your own threads if you need assistance. Every issue and cause is different.

I did, and you helped me with what you could then you stopped responding so I assumed you couldn’t help me anymore.
