Exposing IP via resources?

Hi,

as I am still learning about everything revolving around FiveM, I wanted to ask about IP exposure. Since IP of the server can be easily found, on the other hand, I’ve heard that that’s the last thing you want when you run a server in general.

So, how is it in case of FiveM? And should I be worried about exposure of IP in some of my client sided resources, such as tablet?

Thank you in advance for all reactions!

How do you mean? Of course the IP of your server’s known - it’s how people connect to your server to play.

If you mean client IP addresses, FiveM does hide them from the players endpoint but it’s indeed possible to discover IPs of other clients.

Hi there! It’s completely normal for normal players to see your Servers EXTERNAL IP address, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to join or connect, I highly recommend getting some form of DDoS/DoS Protection (usually comes standard in most VPS providers, assuming you use a VPS)

FiveM does filter out player IP addresses as far as I’m aware. Correct me if I’m wrong on that. YOU as the server owner are able to see connecting players addresses assuming you have access to your start.bat file; just type in “status” in the start.bat file and it will allow you to see others named and connected IP addresses for administrative purposes. Hope that helps!

Make sure you’re using endpoint protection. I believe it comes default in the server.cfg now. I remember back in the day it was an issue.

I suppose that the server ip can be hidden through a proxy but u need a different server to do that

Lol, no point in hiding your Server’s IP Address. A proxy will suffice but not even worth it. If you are worried make sure that your Hosting provider has DDOS protection (Preferably 4 Layer Protection).
