ExitCode = 718

What is the issue you’re having?

ExitCode = 718
Failure connecting to the Rockstar Games Launcher

What have you tried already to fix the issue?

  • Reinstalled RedM completely.
  • Reinstalled Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • Reinstalled Rockstar Games Launcher (current version: 2.4.0.118).
  • Checked and changed DNS settings (tested with default ISP DNS and Google DNS 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4).
  • Enabled Windows Defender again and tested with it fully disabled – no change.
  • Verified game files via Rockstar Launcher – no issues found.
  • Manually checked my CitizenFX.ini path → correct game directory is set:

E:\Rockstar RDR\Red Dead Redemption 2

  • Ensured the Rockstar Games Launcher service (Rockstar Games Library Service) is running.

  • Tried running RedM normally and with admin privileges (note: RedM doesn’t allow direct “Run as Administrator”).

  • Checked hosts file → no custom entries, only default Microsoft lines.

Traced network connection – some hops time out, and DNS sometimes resolves to 192.81.241.100.

  • Restarted router for 60+ minutes to force a new IP → issue persists.
  • Confirmed port 443 (HTTPS) is open and reachable.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 works online normally, only RedM fails with error 718.
  • Tried using mobile hotspot (different network) → same problem, so not local router related.

What server did you get this issue on?

This issue happens before connecting to any server. RedM fails to launch and crashes with error 718 right after starting, so I cannot even reach the server list.

Additional comments

I have already reinstalled both RedM and RDR2, reset my DNS settings, and even disabled my antivirus/firewall temporarily.
The game works fine in Rockstar Online, but RedM always fails to connect and throws Error 718.

When I check the domain prod.ros.rockstargames.com, I get timeouts or 404 errors.
It looks like my connection cannot reach the Rockstar authentication servers, even though port 443 is open and other Rockstar services work.

I also completely removed and reinstalled the Rockstar Games Launcher (v2.4.0.118).
My ISP is Cybersim (Drillisch), and I have verified there’s no VPN active and no entries in the Windows hosts file that would block Rockstar services.

Title: Error 718 – DS-Lite users completely blocked, no fix possible

I already posted about Error 718 before, but after days of testing it’s clear:
This issue is unsolvable for anyone on DS-Lite internet (CGNAT, no native IPv4).

It looks like the RedM launcher has been locked down so hard against the cheater kids that normal, honest players with DS-Lite internet simply cannot go online anymore.

I tried everything:

  • Complete reinstalls of RedM, RDR2 and the Rockstar Launcher
  • DNS changes (ISP default, Google, Cloudflare)
  • Disabling antivirus/firewall
  • Router resets with new IPs
  • Even a PowerShell fix script for RedM networking
  • VPN tests on different providers

Nothing worked. RDR2 Online runs fine, but RedM always fails with ExitCode 718 at the Rockstar launcher handshake.

And here’s the real problem: my ISP does not even offer a public IPv4 option at all.
That means there is literally no way to fix this.

:arrow_right: The result: Error 718 is currently a death sentence for DS-Lite users.
Cheaters may be blocked – but so are honest players who just want to enjoy RedM.

Is there any chance that CFX will adjust this, or is DS-Lite officially unsupported now?
