I exclusively use Direct Connect to reach FiveM servers despite so frequently using MTA’s server list to reach servers there. MTA has direct connect, but their server list works. Every time. The FiveM error in question is age old, and there are many forum posts on it, of which I have read all. And to which there is no solution. This is not local, it is not windows, or my own router, or directly caused by the server’s setup.

I can Direct Connect to any server every single time which brings up a question of ports. So the problem is when I go to the Server list and search and click for my server. It says: “Connecting: Handshaking with server…” Then errors out with “Connection Failed” “Failed handshake to server http”//…/ - Failed to connect to … port 30120. Timed out. - CURL error code 7 (Couldn’t connect to server)" Try searching this error on the forum, and you will get a thousand requests to fix this error.

As we all know, if you drill away at it, if you reconnect time and again, it will eventually connect. Usually once or twice, earlier today it took 5 minutes and eight tries. But it did connect in the end. So it is not an issue of ports… it did connect.

It does appear to be the result of timers.

You connect. it gives you X number of seconds for each task to complete.

If they do not complete it throws the error.

In MTA many default timers are setable in server configuration to allow each server to adapt to their personal requirements.
