it possibly could be the server you are playing on

Happens with multiple different servers, and others that play on my server that have similar specs see much better frames with the same settings

thermal throttling is the first thing that comes to mind, also please try a server without litteraly 200 resources like freeroam deathmatch

Yea I was thinking the thermal throttle too, however I thought my GPU would be cranking out more than 15% and CPU more than 31% to see that kind of throttle.

I also realize that the server I am on is a resource hoe but as I said before, there are people with lower specs than I seeing better frames with higher settings

please check your fans/filters and heatsinks for dust, you will thank me later

we’ll how is it fivem’s fault if they are using the same program? there is something on your pc that restricts your perfomance.

also did you try the freeroam deathmatch server?

It does seem like a strange problem, although lowering your settings will only make the problem worse as it will make the CPU work harder and the GPU work less. What happens to your CPU/GPU usage and your FPS when you go into advanced settings and put frame scaling on 1.75x or 2.00x? Secondly, please change DirectX to 11 and then see what happens when you begin to turn the rest of the settings up.

Using a 1080 Ti for 1080p will always put more strain on the CPU regardless, but by using frame scaling this will shift the load to the GPU. For your particular case though, I feel the problem may be deeper. If you’ve tried literally everything to make it work, all I can suggest at that point is using DDU to wipe your old drivers and then clean install new ones and reinstalling FiveM and potentially GTA (although I would just do a steam verify first)

It isn’t a fivem issue, try to join a vanilla server and see the difference and stop playing on servers with un-optimized resources.

So, I have followed this advice.

I have also logged into deathmatch freeroam server in fivem. I am seeing 100 or so frames, however now my GPU is maxing out at 100% while playing and CPU is at 50%. This is where I believe thermal throttling is going to start kicking in severely

As i suspected, now I’m getting crashes from my GPU force stopping the app

Download a program like HWMonitor to check your temps while gaming, out of curiousity what size is your PSU? I can’t see why your GPU would be thermal throttling unless your case is a dust mountain… they are designed to run consistently at fairly high temperatures and under high loads. If it does turn out to be your GPU you can download a program like MSI Afterburner and disable auto fan control and either make a custom fan curve or just set the fans to 60-70% constant while gaming. If you have a 60Hz monitor and are using frame scaling I would personally keep vsync enabled which in turn will keep usage and temps down.

I use 1.25x frame scaling on my GTX 1070 which is why I assumed a 1080 Ti would be capable of 2.00x (which is 4k on a 1080p monitor), if it’s constantly maxing your usage at 100% then you could try drop it to 1.5x but honestly the 1080 Ti should manage 4k 60 fps just fine
