Here is the solution to fix this problem.

The build that server is on doesn’t support simplied Chinese which is in the GTA V folder titled patchDay1NG.
To by-pass this, the user must load into a different server on a different build. They will then need to do the following:

  • Open their Settings in FiveM upon loading into another server on a different build
  • From the top, they’ll need to go down 5 from the top
    • This is the Display tab
    • The very bottom is Restore Defaults. One above that is Language. Select that.
      • Look for 英文 which is English in Simplified Chinese.
      • Hit escape and then log out.

Log into the server you’re wanting to log into at that point!

Any other workaround? I can’t get into any other servers. I have deleted, uninstalled, verified files, cleared cache literally everything, and can’t seem to get it to work. I have tried to get into other servers as well

This is a known issue with servers that are running older gamebuilds of FiveM (3095 for sure, maybe older too). If you have your language set to Chinese, the game will crash with that message. What you have to do is:

  • Connect to the FiveM test server, wait for it to load
  • Pause the game, go to Settings → Display → Language and set it to English. If you can’t navigate the menu in Chinese, see the image below for the correct settings to change (press the right arrow to move it one language over to English).
  • Press Escape 3 times to apply the changes. If you now pause again, FiveM should be back in English. Quit FiveM and start it back up. Go back to the server you were trying to load into, and it should now load.

To get to settings, click on the 5th tab on the top, 6th tab in the next menu and select the second to last option. Then press the right arrow once.

I’ve also updated the Github issue about this with some technical details.

I’m having the same issue. Can’t get into any servers.

Does your game crash before you can go to the server browser?
If it doesn’t, you should be able to connect to the FiveM test server.
If it does, you will have to edit the %localappdata%\CitizenFX.ini file and set the SavedGameBuild to 3258.

listen everyone i had this exact problem and tried everything but its not what you have been trying, simply if u are trying to get into a server and the that chineserpf thing comes up as it did with me then simply search test server connect to that server once ur in go to settings then if i remember correctly its on display where youll see languages and that its set on chinese simply go to it switch it to english then save it disconect exit fivem log back in and load into ur perfered server and ur good i just did these exact steps and i had all the same problems and tried all that cache bs reinstalling EVERYTHING but this worked
