Cannot Direct connect to server

My friend owns a server and is able to connect no problems however I cant even Direct Connect to the server even when he is on.
I can however join any other server including direct connecting

Then it’s probably a problem of your friend’s server.

Well yeah… even more so if its a local server hes running.

he and I have been trying to figure out what was wrong for a couple hours, he says that its run off a Remote Desktop VPS

well then it would still be on his end… unless you tried disabling your anti virus and what not to see if its being blocked.

as far as I know nothing is being blocked I can connect to any other server direct connect and through the server list

ok well that narrows it down to his end… perhaps the server isnt configured correctly the fact that he can connect to it and you cant is kinda interesting but… if you can connect to others and not his… its something on his end… perhaps his VPS is blocking your IP range or something its hard to say.

how can we check if its blocking my ip range?
